As promised, today we are announcing another set of artists that will complete our line-up.
Earth Garden Festival has always been a platform for local artists, especially newcomers that are given the opportunity to share the stage with established local artists and international artists that are renowned in their field.
On the occasion of our 10th anniversary the set-up of the Roots Stage has been transformed to a 22m wide stage and incorporates the concerts that used to happen at the Greek Theatre. We announced the performances by Tribali, etnika and Brikkuni, all coming from the local scene. The last three performers to complete our line-up of artists performing on the Roots Stage are international artists: Neville Staple, Nicky Bomba & the Malta Ska Orchestra and Tape Five.
Surely, those of you who appreciate Ska music will get to experience a live performance from Neville Staple. His thirty-five year career makes this artist an institution in the Ska music scene. The early days, way back in the late ‘70s, he was part of bands of the likes of The Coventry Automatics, The Specials and FunBoy3. In the ‘90s he moved to The Special Beat and various other collaborations during his solo career. Following on from the 2009 The Specials reunion and Neville’s departure from the band in late 2012, he continues to be a forerunner of the ska movement, and continues to thrill audiences worldwide with his own excellent band, The Neville Staple Band. We invite you to their performance at the Festival on Friday 3rd June at 9.30pm.
It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing! Rest assured that Tape Five are not credited with the revival of the Swing or Electro-Swing, for no reason. They combine a variety of styles and influences with an eye for classy compositions. The focus is on Electro-Swing, but there is a hint of Bossanova, Latin and NuJazz, Hiphop, Reggea or Tango grooves as well, with very distinct and vivid ‘’retro’’ interpretations. The live Tape Five has been performing concerts, festivals and events all over Europe and will be joining us on Saturday 4th June at midnight.
Nicky Bomba is surely a familiar face and loved by the Earth Garden crowd. Our Aussie friend, musician and singer-songwriter will present a different act for this year’s edition of Earth Garden. He will perform on our Roots Stage accompanied by a 12-piece Ska Orchestra. Nicky Bomba & the Malta Ska Orchestra is a collaboration with Mark Kram who will also pen all the musical arrangements for this gig. We will dance to their music on Sunday 5th June at 10.30pm.
We invite you to visit our informative website to find out more about the line-up of artists and their performance times.
